"Teshia, do you think we'll end up in the same room?" Kyre asked his friend as they walked along the corridor to meet the seniors who had arranged to meet them.
"I don't know," Teshia replied indifferently, glancing at his dragon. In truth, he didn't care who he ended up rooming with; to him, it was all the same.
"But it'd be great to have a duel with that guy," Teshia mused, thinking of the piercing silver eyes that sparkled coldly like snow. He wasn't hoping to share a room with the person he was thinking about; if they were in the same room, it would be a disaster. Just being in the same dorm, he predicted future chaos.
Right... they didn't need to be in the same room, but he was keen to test his skills against him.
"Ice Dragon would be interesting to fight… wouldn't it, Fok?" He asked his dragon, perched on his shoulder, and soon found himself smiling when the Twilight Knight screeched, seemingly to agree.
Kyre watched his friend's demeanor and couldn't help but smile, amused. Bringing the person in front of him to study here was going to make for an entertaining time indeed.

In the dome of Dragon Dorm, the first-year students all stood waiting for the seniors who had arranged to meet them. Everyone was unavoidably excited as today was the day they would be assigned to their rooms. Those who ended up in the same room meant they would be roommates for the next seven years until graduation. This was something that made the first-year students pray for good roommates.
"Whoa... you guys are here early, it's not even time yet," Senior Raph's voice sounded before he stepped forward, his playful eyes scanning the early birds. He understood the excitement of the first years since he had been in their place once.
However, Raph couldn't fully admit that he understood how all the juniors felt, at least he had to exclude one—the prince with the expressionless face who stood away from everyone else.
"It shouldn't be a problem, right, Frank, if we start the roll call early?" Ena said, pulling out the list to check, assuming with so many juniors present that nobody else was missing.
"Go ahead," Frank's brief reply prompted Ena to start calling out each junior's name. But...
" Two are missing," Ena announced after completing the roll call.
"Who's missing, Ms. Ena?" Dela asked politely, surprised because usually, all juniors arrived early.
"Well..." Ena was about to say the names of those not yet arrived but was cut off before she could finish.
Bang!!
The sound of the dome door being opened loudly came from a warrior's hand before two figures entered leisurely. The cheerful warrior still wore a bright smile despite most of his friends having arrived. As for the other, even if he saw he was the last one, his indifferent face remained unchanged.
"I'm Kyre, reporting in!" shouted the person walking beside him, so loud that everyone in the room thought to themselves, does he not know any shame?
"Whoa... you've got guts, coming in late and still shouting," Raph commented with a smile. He didn't mind a jovial and teasing junior like this; in fact, he rather liked it because it meant the Dragon Dorm would be much livelier.
"You got it wrong, senior," the calm voice of the sweet-faced young man with blue eyes objected, his gaze fixed unflinchingly on the four seniors.
"We arrived on time; it's the seniors who came early," the young man with blue hair explained, leaving the seniors at a loss for words because it was true.
"Alright then, everyone's here," Frank concluded, trying to resolve the issue, though he was becoming quite curious about these two juniors.
"All the girls, come this way, please. The boys, follow Frank and Raph," the sweet voice of senior Dela resonated, causing several people to swoon. The three girls separated to follow the two senior sisters, leaving the remaining boys looking somewhat gloomy. The Dragon Dorm really did lack women.
"Alright, young men, follow this extremely handsome guy," senior Raph said, unabashedly not being modest about his looks. Although he wasn't ugly, declaring himself so confidently like that wouldn’t make anyone just agree.
"Less handsome than me, though," Kyre, standing beside him, said nonchalantly, his voice a bit too loud, audible to everyone.
"Oh... less handsome, huh?" Raph's eyes sparkled. He was growing quite fond of these new juniors. Teshia just shook his head; equal parts seniors and peers, they were all the same. The young man sighed before trying to cut through the tension.
"What a waste of time." That was enough to temporarily halt any potential argument.
"And someone around here might be annoyed," Teshia continued, his icy blue eyes shifting to glance at the silver-haired man, showing a brief flash of mischief before returning to their usual stoic appearance. Even if the other party was unresponsive, he couldn’t help but feel irritated and decided to drag him into it.
"Anything bothering you, Seius?" Raph's question caused the sweet-faced young man to barely suppress a smirk. Seius's silver eyes glanced at the instigator for a moment before looking away.
"Annoyed... let's get the rooms sorted out," the cold reply came, fearless and detached. Teshia watched the unfolding scene with amusement, having no intention of intervening. The more those two fought, the better.
"Ahem... I think we better get the rooms organized now," Frank quickly interjected when he saw the situation was turning sour. Teshia rolled his eyes in disappointment, but Kyre's expression was clearly amused.
"Follow me," senior Frank said and led the way to one of the rooms.
The two seniors led all the juniors into a room. This room was spacious and empty except for a large magical circle covering the entire floor.
“Alright, everyone steps into the magical circle," Raph instructed, leading everyone to step in. Once both seniors were certain no one was outside the magical boundary, Frank and Raph also stepped in.
"Don't be alarmed, we are about to head to the dorm," Senior Raph cheerfully reassured all the nervous juniors.
"Raph, get ready," announced Senior Frank, as both took a deep breath.
" World-Turning Dragon King!!"
Flash!!
A bright white light engulfed the room, and soon, nothing could be seen.
When they opened their eyes again, they found themselves in a larger, beautifully decorated room.
"This is the living room for the first-years," Senior Frank explained, smiling at the juniors who looked around with interest.
"Let's go check out the bedrooms first," Raph suggested, leading everyone out of the room. Teshia's beautiful blue eyes scanned the pathway that the two seniors were leading.
It was like a palace, a thought that crossed his mind as he looked around. While everyone seemed excited, Teshia, who had always been in a palace, found it rather dull. Surely, he wasn't the only one who felt this way, considering his friends from aristocratic homes likely shared his sentiments. At least there was another high-ranking prince who might feel the same.
"We're here," Raph announced, stopping before one particularly large room.
"This room is for the first-year class leaders. Let's see who is staying here," he said, peering at the list in Frank's hand.
"Well, leaders this year are so lucky...lucky" Raph commented, scanning the excited faces of the first-years.
"Who do you think will be staying?" Kyre whispered, but as usual, Teshia remained silent, indifferent to the outcome.
"And why are they lucky, senior?" asked a brave classmate, raising his hand. Dragon Dorm never lacked the brave, so when they wanted to know something, they asked directly.
"What's your name?" Raph asked, amused and appreciative of the boldness.
"Keishan Mavis, the Great Enchanter of Neya," the golden eyes of the young man who spoke sparkled cheerfully.
"That's a very good question," Raph commended, then continued, "Usually three people share the class leader's room, but this year, only two will share it."
"And they scored exactly the same," added Senior Frank with a grin.
Teshia rolled his eyes in boredom as he patted the little Twilight Knight’s head, who had already fallen asleep. The seniors seemed to be deliberately dragging out the time instead of announcing who would be staying in the room.
"I'll announce the names now then," Frank paused for effect, keeping everyone in suspense.
"Those two are..."
"Senior, are there really only two people in the class leader's room?" Kyre interrupted just as Frank was about to reveal the names. Oh… really interrupted.
"Yes... Is there something?" Raph asked irritably, prompting Kyre to shake his head. Kyre’s lava dragon glanced at the dozens of eyes staring apprehensively back—it seems its master had interrupted everyone's curiosity.
"The ones who will stay in this room are..."
"Are you sure this is the head of the year room?" Oh!! The interruption again... Teshia glanced with his icy blue eyes at the troublesome fellow pretending to play around.
"Sure," this time it was Senior Frank who replied. Kyre's sea blue eyes met Teshia's gaze, as if saying, 'Ask again and someone will end up bleeding.' But the good-natured warrior’s sea-green eyes sparkled, unfazed by the piercing stares around him.
"Fine... I won't ask, but you have to answer me first. Who do you think will stay in this room?" the red-haired boy spoke up cheerfully, seemingly ready to keep interrupting until he got an answer. Teshia sighed before responding.
"That guy." Kyre raised an eyebrow at the vague 'that guy' from his friend, but soon cracked a smile when he understood whom Teshia meant. Who else could Teshia be interested in but 'that guy'?
"Alright, to save time let’s announce the head of the year room now," Frank spoke, running out of patience and glanced at the eager junior.
"The ones with the same score staying in this room are..."
"Senior, I'm excited!!" The voice of the same junior cut in, sparking amusement. But this time...
Swoosh... Thunk! The sound that followed left everyone agape in surprise.
"Kyre—will—you—stop—playing—around," the queried could only swallow nervously while glancing at the short knife almost buried in the wall.
Powerful strength… and the accuracy to boot. It had barely missed its target by an inch; had it erred, the good-natured warrior might have been permanently silenced.
Kyre quickly raised his hands in surrender, knowing another moment and the knife might have embedded in his neck. Teshia flicked his wrist, and the knife lodged in the wall shot back into its owner’s hand swiftly“
"Thank you, Mr. Teshia," Frank said before reading from the list in his hand. This time, he hoped no interruptions would come.
"The first one..." He glanced at the nervous junior whose face had turned pale, perhaps it was because of the blue-haired young man next to him, still casually spinning the knife. If Kyre opened his mouth to interrupt again, Teshia might let it slip toward his annoying friend’s throat.
"Seius Ferawen, the Prince of Sivia, and the other one with equal scores is..." Teshia cracked a smile, having already told who it would be—the ice prince himself. But the words that followed from the senior wiped the smile off his face instantly.
"Teshia." Everyone puzzled, furrowing their brows, searching for the owner of the solitary name without a surname, title, or any designation—just the name.
"Both first-year leaders are quite interesting, aren't they, Frank?" Raph said cheerfully as he looked at the two first-year leaders, hinting to the other juniors who were in the room.
"And who will take responsibility when there's work to be done?" Frank asked both, to have an agreement in front of everyone.
"I'm just a traveler, I won't have responsibilities like a prince," Teshia declared, causing the icy silver eyes to turn towards him, though the person being looked at showed no signs of flinching.
Just a traveler, without responsibilities like a prince, huh? Bold statement. That's what Seius thought internally when he saw the other brushing off responsibilities.
"Then, Seius, you'll handle the responsibilities," Frank assigned the tasks with a smile, knowing that the sweet-faced young man who spoke smartly transferred the burden to another, and it was successful.
"With pleasure," came the cold, emotionless reply. Even though he knew his roommate was just trying to tease him, the duties of a year head weren't too much for him to handle. After all, he had been shouldering such responsibilities for a long time.
But what no one knew was that Teshia wasn’t just trying to tease the prince; in fact, he had no intention of staying in the human lands permanently and thus didn't plan to take on those responsibilities. He was only here temporarily, and all the troubles were just passing clouds in a fleeting dream.
"Here are your room keys," Raph handed the keys to the prince.
"Oh, Teshia really leaves me," Kyre remarked, feigning dejection, but soon his eyes sparkled again.
"Whatever... I’ll come sleep over some day!!" his good-natured friend declared nonchalantly, causing the sweet-faced young man to sigh as the other room owner looked on with a frosty gaze. The self-inviter didn’t even think to ask permission first, huh?
"Don’t forget, there’s a welcoming party tonight. No skipping!! If you skip, the penalty is triple," Raph warned and reminded before leading the other juniors to see the rest of the rooms.
The two young men sighed, accepting their fate that they would have to stay together for a while longer as they used the keys to unlock their new shared space.
Teshia looked at the tall figure of the prince, his roommate, and resigned himself to the fact. Initially, he thought it didn't matter who his roommate was, but it seemed he had underestimated the situation. Having this prince as a roommate meant everything just became more complicated.
Teshia had many secrets he didn't want anyone to discover, but his roommate was perhaps the hardest person to deceive. He just hoped his secrets would remain so until he had to leave this school.
