Chapter 14
The Guardian's Tomb that Ta Gui mentioned was located in the center of the Mei Guo Continent, similar to the tomb in the Qing Yun Continent that Liu Yi You had once taken over. However, she never knew that it was a Guardian's Tomb. Now, the Guardian's Tomb in the Qing Yun Continent had become a place for the Liu and Zhuang families to retreat and cultivate.
They traveled so urgently that Liu Tan's flying ship broke down. Liu Yi You initially thought of using her pocket mouse to continue their journey, but she remembered that every time it jumped up and down, it caused significant tremors. She was worried it would alarm people even more. So, she gave the auspicious cloud to her Grandfather Three and Tong Tian to use, while she used her Asura wings to fly alongside them.
Since they had to travel from the continent's edge to its center, it was expected to take several months. Thus, the grandfather and granddaughter decided to find a cultivator town to rest and repair the flying ship before resuming their journey, which seemed better than traveling like this.
While flying in the sky, she noticed many townspeople looking up and pointing at them. For the cultivators, it was just a sighting of high-level cultivators. However, for ordinary people, many knelt down in worship.
Seeing this, Liu Yi You felt goosebumps. If it had been her former self seeing this, she would have been thrilled. She might have knelt and worshiped just like many others did because at this moment, Liu Yi You flying with her Asura wings, and holding a bow, looked just like Cupid.
The little girl couldn't help but smile, her heart swelling with pride.
To say she didn't feel anything would be a lie because she felt immensely proud. She wanted to boast that, besides flying, she could do many other things.
However, when she glanced at the beautiful but expressionless Tong Tian, she couldn't help but feel that her thoughts were all nonsense. Her prowess seemed like a mere illusion compared to Tong Tian's.
Her inflamed heart deflated in an instant.
Not far from entering the city, Liu Yi You decided to stop in the dense forest before reaching the city limits.
"Xiao Gui, Ta Gui, Mao Tong," the little girl glanced at the three beasts, signaling them to go hunt for herbs.
This was a form of punishment.
This forest, called the Zhong San Forest, was rich in medicinal herbs. Many people came to gather herbs here, though not as many as in the market because it was still a forest. Therefore, most visitors were cultivators. Liu Yi You and Liu Tan had become so accustomed to concealing their auras that they appeared as ordinary people entering a beast forest.
However, these three ordinary people seemed unusual. Upon arrival, they laid out mats, lit a fire, boiled tea, ate snacks, and occasionally, the little girl and the young boy lifted a wine jar to sip from.
At the same time, a few people passed by, most of whom frowned at them.
Why were ordinary people sitting around birdwatching in the Zhong San Forest?
"You three, why are you sitting here eating and drinking?" asked one of the three men who approached them.
Because Tong Tian's face was almost entirely covered by the cloth, she did not draw attention as she had in other towns.
"Please be on your way, we're waiting for... uh... a friend of mine," Liu Tan quickly swallowed the word "worm," realizing it would attract strange looks if he said it aloud.
Who in their right mind would sit there waiting for a worm?
"In that case, be careful. There are many fierce beasts in this forest," one man said before walking away.
Every now and then, someone would pass by and greet them, only to receive the same response.
They waited for a long time, but the three beasts did not return. Liu Yi You's stomach began to growl. She hadn't eaten a proper spirit beast meal recently, so she asked Tong Tian to go hunt for a couple of high-level beasts.
"Kid, a mid-level spirit beast will do. Why do you want to eat high-level ones?" Liu Tan laughed mockingly.
"Grandfather, you don't understand. There's a difference between feeling full and enjoying the food."
While the grandfather and granddaughter were chuckling, two men walked by and were surprised to see a young man who hadn't fully matured and a little girl eating snacks.
"Hey! There are people eating snacks and birdwatching around here," a thin man sneered and smiled mockingly.
"How can ordinary people be in a place like this? Even if they are ordinary, they should have someone protecting them, shouldn't they?" the chubby man frowned, speaking to his thin companion.
"Look at the things they're using. Expensive clothes, even the wine looks costly. They must be rich kids looking for a change of scenery. No ordinary person would sit drinking tea in a forest full of beasts," the thin man observed.
"Just leave them alone. Let's go," the chubby man said, sounding displeased with his companion.
"Calm down. You wait here; I'll be back," the thin man smirked wickedly and disappeared into the forest.
The chubby man frowned, feeling uneasy as he watched his companion walk away, so he approached Liu Yi You and Liu Tan.
"Kids, it's too dangerous to be in the middle of the forest like this. You should go home," the chubby man said.
But when Liu Tan heard the word "kids," his eyes sparkled instantly, and his face lit up with a warm smile.
"Young man, you have a good eye. Come, sit and have a drink with me," Liu Tan eagerly arranged a seat and placed wine in front of the newcomer.
Seeing this, Liu Yi You pouted and silently complained in her mind, calling her grandfather an old child. She then popped a lotus seed into her mouth and took a swig from the wine jar.
The grandfather and granddaughter didn’t restrict each other; they did whatever they pleased.
"You kids don't understand, do you? This forest is very dangerous," the chubby man frowned in frustration. He had come to warn them, but the kids acted as if nothing was wrong.
"Come on, young man, have a drink with me," Liu Tan invited.
It was odd for the young man to call the chubby man "young man," but the chubby man, preoccupied with his concerns about what his companion was up to, didn't notice the oddity. At that moment, the aroma of the fine liquor reached his nose, making him pause. His anxious thoughts were replaced by the enticing smell of premium wine. Because of this, he sat down at Liu Tan's urging without resistance.
Before long, he was comfortably drinking with Liu Tan.
The thin man returned and, not seeing his companion waiting where he had left him, frowned. Looking further, he saw his companion drinking with their intended targets and sneered.
If you want to protect them, then die with them.
Soon enough, a large spirit beast came running towards them. The thin man threw a handful of herb known as "human-biting grass" near where Liu Yi You and Liu Tan were sitting.
"Oh no," the chubby man was startled upon seeing this herb. His face turned pale as he looked into the distance, spotting a large spirit beast heading their way.
Cloud Tiger!
