Uncle Six avoided eye contact and said nothing, too ashamed to speak.

Though he was not the one causing trouble for the little girl, the people Grandfather Three mentioned were indeed from his own family, and importantly, he had no control over them.

"Come on, Little Seventeen, come with me," Grandfather Three took the girl's hand and led her forward.

"Uncle Three, there's no need to take Seventeen," he glanced at the girl, seeing her hesitation. "She is still very young."

Grandfather Three ignored the comment, continuing to walk with the girl. As they moved, he responded to the breeze,

"It's good for her to know these things now so she can recognize faces."

Yi You nodded to herself in agreement. It was about her matter; she should be aware of it, letting others face the issue wouldn’t solve anything.

She needed to know who meant well and did not, to be prepared.

In the study room of the Great Grandfather, three men were already waiting, two of whom seemed to particularly despise her.

    "Greetings, Uncle Three."

    "Greetings, Grandfather Three."

The two men spoke in unison, with Grandfather Three nodding coolly.

"Greetings, Great Grandfather, Second Grandfather, Great Uncle," she bowed respectfully to the elders and then to her peers, despite the age difference.

    "Brother Second."

"No need for formalities," the Great Grandfather spoke flatly, his voice tinged with pity.

"It’s good that you’re here, you useless child," Liu Ta Ji snorted disdainfully.

"Second," Liu Tai warned his son with a single word.

"When you were five, you couldn’t even wash your own bum, yet you’re calling others useless?" Grandfather Three blurted out.

Liu Ta Ji’s face fell upset at these words.

"Enough, stop arguing. Whatever you want to say, say it directly to Grandfather Three."

Using formal titles like this usually meant that the speaker was extremely displeased. It was a subtle hint that he was not in a good mood.

However, Liu Tai and Liu Ta Ji, the father and son, didn’t seem to care at all.

Liu Tai was the Great Uncle.

Liu Ta Ji was the second brother, the only son of the Great Uncle.

"Uncle Three, I think we shouldn't keep Seventeen in the family anymore," Liu Tai spoke bluntly, without preambles or polite introductions.

Yi You looked coldly at her great uncle.

She was not a hot-headed person, but she would remember those who treated her well or ill.

Grandfather Three’s face colored, but he said nothing.

"I don’t understand what use there is in keeping her. Someone who cannot cultivate Qi power is just a burden," Liu Ta Ji continued when no one else spoke.

"What are you trying to say? speak it," Grandfather Three snapped.

"Uncle Three, what I mean is, it's not just her we have to care for, there’s also Grandfather Five," Liu Tai joined his hands, speaking politely, but his words were unpleasant.

"Hmph, you two, when Five and your Nine were still here, they gave you a lot of medicine. Otherwise, someone of ordinary talent like you, Second, wouldn’t be where you are today," Grandfather Three stared at them, his anger evident.

"Uncle Three, our family isn’t as prosperous as before,"

The disappearance of Liu Fuzhen, or Young Master Nine, meant the family lost a high-level cultivator, leaving only three mid-level cultivators in the entire family.

Others could still cultivate, just not as well, so losing Liu Fuzhen was a significant blow.

Later, Grandfather Five, Yi You’s grandfather, went into a deep slumber while searching for his son and hadn’t woken for two years. He was another mid-level cultivator, meaning currently, only Grandfather Three and the Great Grandfather were left.

For the aging Great Grandfather, it was difficult to cultivate much anymore, leaving Grandfather Three as the main support of the family.

"And then what?" Grandfather Three still spoke patiently.

"We’re just trying to find a home for Grandfather Five and Little Seventeen."

Driving two people out of the family was just a pretext. Many servants were still maintained, what more a single child.

But indeed, the wealth of Grandfather Five, the father of Liu Fuzhen, was considerable.

Honestly, they were eyeing the wealth of a man deep in sleep, including Liu Fuzhen’s belongings, which, though stored in the family vault, could not be touched by the two in front because they were still considered someone's property.

Especially one among all the treasures is highly coveted; it is the Soul Pearl. Its owner's fate is unknown, and with both Grandfather Five and Yi You still present, even though the item is right in front of them, it remains unobtainable.

The greeds will always be greedy. They seek every means possible to get what they want. Their chosen method was to expel the grandfather and granddaughter duo from the family.

With various pretexts and roundabout statements, the ultimate goal is to drive the owners of the treasure out, so they can seize and use it for themselves.

The junior elder, father to Liu Tai and grandfather to Liu Ta ji, remains silent, bowing his head, feeling somewhat uneasy. But these are his son and grandson's desires, and regardless of his feelings, he loves his own flesh and blood more than others.

"By driving them out of the family, you're basically sending them to their deaths. Have you really made peace with that, treating your own family this way?" the Elder Three spoke.

"Don't forget that Uncle Five ended up like this because he went searching for Nine. If he hadn't been so selfless, would he have ended up like this?" Liu Tai was not easily swayed.

"Going in search of someone who helped our family is personal?" Elder Three firmly opposed.

"That's not right, Elder Three. Remember how much we've spent on his care over the years, not to mention supporting Seventeen, who can't cultivate any powers," Liu Tai argued.

"Brother Second, you're really okay with your son and grandson killing Uncle Five like that?" Elder Three couldn't help but turn to the man known as Brother Second.

"I...I..." He was truly at a loss for words. On one side was his brother; on the other, his son. Yet, he would always love his son more.

"Elder Three, we never intended to kill our own kin. We just want them to live peacefully away from our family matters," including all the treasures they possessed…but he did not say that.

"You two, father and son, don't want to help the family, that’s fine. But all you do is squander and exploit our wealth, and when someone who has always supported the family falls ill, you step on them Let me ask you this once, if I were injured and couldn't refine mystical substances, you’d abandon me too, wouldn’t you?" Elder Three spoke bitterly.
