Chapter 1
A beautiful woman with a graceful figure sat still on a magnificent bed adorned with vivid red cloud patterns. She quietly peered through the veil covering her head, her heart still racing.
She was Yue Haili, aged nineteen, and had just been married.
However, calling it a marriage wasn’t quite right. It was more accurate to say that she had been ‘taken in’ as a concubine into the master's residence. There was no grand eight-carrier sedan, no large dowry. She had simply walked in, surrounded by the scornful gazes of many. There was no need to wait for an auspicious time; she wore a bride’s gown from the Qingfeng Shop that cost only a few taels. With minimal hair ornaments and a simple veil, when the sun set and the moon rose high, she sat waiting for her groom in the bridal chamber.
Yue Haili had scattered five types of auspicious grains on the bed with her own hands, then quietly nibbled on them to calm her nerves until only the shells remained. After all, this ceremony was meant for a principal wife, and she only wanted to experience it for herself.
"Just six years," Yue Haili murmured softly, taking a handkerchief to clean up the nut shells. As she did so, she heard footsteps approaching and quickly returned to sit calmly on the bed.
The door creaked open, letting in a cold breeze that lifted her veil slightly. From beneath it, she could clearly see the deep blue shoes of the person entering, instantly realizing that her groom was not wearing the traditional bright red ceremonial attire.
Her veil was tugged off with some force, causing the hair ornaments pinned in place to come loose. Her black hair cascaded down like a waterfall over her shoulders and back. Yue Haili looked up at him, without any trace of anger despite the rudeness. Instead, there was a glimmer of excitement in her large, round eyes.
Feng Yongyuan's face was strikingly handsome, like that of an immortal, with captivating brownish-blue eyes.
But he was cold as ice.
Yue Haili wasn’t fazed by his demeanor. Her lips, painted a bright red, curved into a sweet smile. “Husband.”
“Call me Master’s heir,” came the frigid response.
“As you wish, Master’s heir.”
Yue Haili replied softly and politely, her gaze lingering on his dark blue robes. Her eyebrows furrowed slightly. She didn’t know how to undo such clothes, so she couldn’t attend to him.
However, the Master's heir misinterpreted her expression as displeasure at his failure to wear the red wedding attire. He flicked his sleeves and continued,
"Don't expect much. If you hadn't spread rumors that I was taking care of you outside the household, would you even have set foot in this manor? It’s best you say what you want and leave. After all, you're a woman. I don’t like hurting women."
His voice was cold and restrained.
“What I want... is just to share a bed with you once,” Yue Haili stated bluntly.
“You! Shameless!”
Hearing this, the young woman simply nodded. “That’s right. I am a shameless woman, offering myself to you. But this is truly what I want.”
Feng Yongyuan was taken aback, unable to comprehend how such bright, innocent eyes could belong to a woman he considered so vile and wanton.
“If you get what you want, will you leave?” he asked.
“I’ll stay in your manor for a while.”
“A while? How long exactly?”
“Six years.”
His fierce eyes glared at her. Six years was hardly ‘a while.’ That was practically permanent residence.
“When the six years are up, I will leave without a doubt and never return to bother the Master's heir again.”
