Nie Shuang thought things like this only happened in novels.

As someone who had inherited her father's business acumen, she had simply worked herself to exhaustion and fell asleep at her desk.

But now, she had woken up in the body of someone she didn’t recognize—on top of that, it was her wedding night!

Nie Shuang glanced around, not even bothering with the bridal veil that had been tossed onto the bed. The table was still covered in food and wine, but no matter how hungry she was, that was the least of her concerns. What she desperately wanted to know was who was playing this crazy joke on her!

But the sound of heavy footsteps approaching made Nie Shuang certain that this wasn’t a dream!

Oh God…She was about to come face-to-face with a real person—and that person was her groom!

There was no place to hide. She had no choice but to face this head-on.

Fine! If she explained to him that she had traveled back in time from the future, surely he'd understand and let her go, right…?

    Dream on!

If she told the truth, she’d probably be tied to a rock and thrown into a river!

When the door finally opened and she saw the man who entered, Nie Shuang knew her instincts had been correct.

Her groom’s face was anything but welcoming. His cold, murderous gaze looked at her as if she had just killed his mother. Nie Shuang forced a smile that made her face twitch. Damn it! Even someone as tough as her was almost petrified under his stare. Yet, despite the intensity of the moment, she couldn’t help but notice just how handsome he was—tall enough to almost hit the doorframe.

    "He..He..He..Hello."

What the hell?! Was this how a bride was supposed to greet her groom in the bridal chamber? She was standing awkwardly in the middle of the room, and to make matters worse, her veil was nowhere to be found. Would he be angry that she hadn't followed tradition?

The groom slammed the door shut with a bang, making Nie Shuang jump. Oh, for heaven’s sake, why did fate have to put her in this ridiculous situation? Where had all the servants gone? In time-travel novels, wasn’t she supposed to wake up with loyal maids by her side, feeding her information? Why did she have to face this madman!? Nie Shuang could only lament, but it seemed there was no more time to think. He was walking toward her, not even bothering to touch the ceremonial wine.

Not that she wanted to drink it either. Who would want to share a drink with a stranger?

She took a step back until she bumped into the edge of the bed, and then she sat down. The nervous voice of a maid came from outside the room.

"General, shall this servant assist the young miss…uh…the Furen[1] in changing her clothes?"

    Oh! He’s a General...

    "Get lost!"

He barked with clear irritation. Nie Shuang’s eyes widened. Who got this angry on their wedding night? She couldn’t help but touch her face. Was the body she was in…so hideous that it disgusted him?

Before she could figure it out, he pushed her down onto the bed and climbed on top of her. The ornate hairpins she still had on pulled painfully at her scalp. She winced and let out a soft whimper.

He paused for a moment, his face hovering close to hers. Their eyes met by accident.

    Damn, he’s handsome...

Nie Shuang couldn’t help but admire him secretly, but what he did next made her curse him instantly.

    Grab.

That big hand was now on her chest.

“You pervert! Get off of me!”
