Chapter 5

OnlineSasaeng: Is this the farm? Wasn't there a rumor last year about drug involvement?

DropbytoPry: A disabled person and drug dealers, they seem like a perfect match.

ThanThanLover: Just broke up with our ThanThan and already has a new husband? That's fast!

DoughBallMamaBear: Get a grip, you bloodsucking leeches. Your idol cheated on my boy. If moving on is wrong, then what?

ThanThanStopLeachingMaBoy: You judgmental brat. You judge everyone, but your own life isn't any better.

LoveChiangMai: I've visited this farm before. I believe the rumors aren't true. When the storm hit, the workers brought supplies to help the villagers. Everyone was very kind, especially the owner's son. He's really handsome, too. It's a shame I'm now studying in Bangkok. If I return to Chiang Mai, I'll definitely visit again!

Perhaps it was because Ramin's popularity was soaring right now, with all the drama about being cheated on and his leg issues. Once he started making videos, the comments exploded, reaching over five thousand, and even trending at number one. However, Ramin focused on just one account amidst all the comments.

He believed the workers at the farm were friendly, but Single Dad Phayu? On his first day here, he was already targeted by the other guy. Hardly a good person. And the photo attached by the account owner was particularly striking to him.

With a slender hand, he raised his phone to compare it to the face of the person in the mirror, who was currently having his hair dissected by a stylist. His beautiful eyes scrutinized intensely before concluding...

Not a match at all. If the account owner saw the single dad now, they would either laugh or cry for sure.

    "What are you looking at?"

Ramin glanced away, ignoring the tall figure, while Phayu stared intently at those muttering lips, likely cursing him again. They had known each other for a week now, and he knew Ramin was polite and courteous to everyone—except him.

After transforming from his rustic look, Single Dad Phayu returned to a more human form. Though he still dressed like an old man and had sunburned skin, it could not completely hide the sharp handsomeness of his face.

Phayu walked out of the barbershop and headed to the restaurant across the street because Ramin had just complained about being thirsty and wanted to wait at the place across the street instead.

    "Are you hungry?"

"Yes, I am. Can we eat here?"

    "Sure."

The tall figure sat down opposite him and accepted the wet tissue from Ramin to clean his hands without complaint. Previously, while at the farm, he thought they always used spoons to eat. After finishing work, he would sit at the table without washing his hands, which led to Ramin scolding him for quite a while.

And yet, he still had the nerve to criticize him...

"Hey there, single dad. What breeze blew you away from the farm?"

The shop owner, recognizing a familiar face, came over to greet him. No one in this area held any prejudice against Ratchawakit Farm because they all knew the rumors were deliberately spread by outsiders to attack the people here. Whenever they faced hardships, it was Phayu and his father who helped them out.

"I came to get a haircut, Uncle. Got tired of the cat at home complaining."

A thin smile crept onto his lips as he saw Ramin's eyebrows furrow in displeasure at being compared to a cat. Yet, the single dad of the tea farm acted as if nothing had happened.

"What would you like to eat?"

"Spicy crispy pork with kale and a fried egg, please."

Ramin replied in a calm voice while continuing to read comments on his channel. Despite the negative energy from the internet, he did not care. Insulting others only harmed one's mental health. Ramin preferred to spend his time doing something else.

    "What are you looking at?"

"Reading comments. Look, there are lots of people saying your farm is beautiful."

Phayu took the younger man's phone and glanced at it, his sharp brows furrowing as he ignored the words of praise entirely. Instead, harsh insults jumped out at him, striking him directly. The more he scrolled, the more he encountered them, strangely making him feel angry on Ramin's behalf.

"Do you always get comments like these?"

"If you mean those nasty people, they're just a minority."

Ramin replied indifferently, taking a big sip of his soda. Today was hotter than usual, and he suspected that by the time he returned to the farm, he would be drenched in sweat. He would have to hurry and shower and change clothes before meeting little Wayu.

"And you're just going to let them insult you and let it slide?"

"Fighting with people online alone isn't worth it. But if they insult me to my face, I won't let it go. Don't worry, I can dish it out too."

Seeing Ramin's stern expression, which was not intimidating at all, made Phayu smile. His anger at those people vanished completely. He forgot that someone like Ramin had so much positive energy that careless words from others could not harm him.

"Alright, if you can't handle it, just call me. I'll help you give them a piece of my mind."

Ramin just noticed that after Phayu got a haircut and dressed up, he looked much better. Fortunately, before they left, Ramin had suggested he change into new clothes; otherwise, he would have looked like an old man as usual. Even though Phayu looked more handsome, his bad habits had not changed, as evidenced by him casually stealing the fried egg from Ramin's plate, despite having his own.

Ramin did not mind insults or criticism, but stealing his food was crossing the line!

"Stop sulking already. I ordered two more eggs for you, didn't I?"

Ramin turned away from the tall figure while paying for their meal. He was someone who fiercely guarded his food; even his father or Phasin would face his sulking behavior if they tried to take something he wanted to eat.

Phayu's bad habits made Ramin declare him his number one enemy, never to be reconciled!

"Huh, and where's this young man from? Haven't seen him around before."

"Oh, his name's Ramin. He's a friend of mine from Bangkok."

Phayu replied with a slight smile, taking the change from the elder and putting it in his pocket, ready to take Ramin back to the farm. But the shop owner stopped them.

"And what happened to your leg?"

Ramin glanced down at his own leg before looking up to meet the shop owner's gaze, immediately understanding that the man was referring to his left leg. His lips curved into a natural smile, not feeling bad about the question at all.

    "It was an accident."

"Oh, what a shame. Still young and vibrant, but with this, finding a wife might be tough."

Ramin's smile remained unchanged, but the tall figure beside him furrowed his brow. Yet, the elder seemed oblivious to the change in the tea plantation owner's expression.

"My son is about your age and had an accident too. Luckily, he survived without any lasting damage. Otherwise, life would be quite difficult."

    "It's not that hard, really."

Ramin's beautiful eyes lowered to his own hand, feeling something grasp it. It was Phayu's hand, likely worried he might feel bad about the elder's words. Though he wanted to say he was fine, Phayu's gesture warmed Ramin's heart.

"I shouldn't have brought you here."

As soon as they got back into the car, Phayu started complaining, his brows still furrowed with no sign of relaxing. Ramin could not tell whether the sun or the mood of the tea plantation owner was hotter at that moment.

"I'm really okay. There's nothing shameful about being disabled."

With Ramin's assurance, Phayu did not want to press the issue further, though he could not help but worry. People's feelings were too delicate to understand easily. Just because he felt nothing now did not mean he would not feel something later.

"If anything comes up, just let me know. You can think of me as a friend."

Ramin nodded with a broad smile, as was his habit. He wondered if it was his good fortune to always meet good people wherever he went. If he set aside the bad experiences with Thanthai and that former close friend, his life had hardly ever seen a dark period.

"You too, if anything's bothering you, feel free to tell me. You can think of me as a friend."

    "Alright."

"Hmm... It's almost four o'clock. I wonder if Aunt Tan has bathed Wayu yet. If it's any later, it'll be too cold for him."

Phayu glanced at the person beside him, who was muttering to himself. He wondered why Ramin cared so much for Wayu. He could not deny how good it felt to see someone else love and care for little Wayu, because he wanted his son to grow up surrounded by love and warmth.

"What is it about Wayu that fascinates you?"

"Hmm, what did you just say?"

Ramin, who was busy scribbling work plans on his iPad, looked up at the driver. He had been so caught up thinking about Wayu and the plans for the new launch of the plantation that he had not heard what Phayu said.

"I asked what fascinates you about little Wayu."

    "Oh..."

Ramin thought for a moment, unsure how to explain. But from the first time he laid eyes on the little red-faced child, he felt a connection. And those round, adorable cheeks were irresistible. After just a few days together, he had become completely enamored with little Wayu.

"Maybe it's because Wayu is just so cute."

    "Is that all?"

Ramin tilted his head in curiosity, unable to think of why one would need many reasons to be fond of a child. He did not notice the mischievous smile that appeared on the driver's face.

    "That's all."

"Really? Wayu looks like me. Are you saying I'm cute too?"

Ramin was left speechless, not expecting Phayu to boldly say such a thing with a straight face. To make matters worse, Phayu parked the car and turned to raise his eyebrows in a teasing manner, which made Ramin grit his teeth in annoyance.

The child was adorable, but the father was best left in the trash!!!
